    • Dr. Waldner
      • Dr. Matt Owens is retiring early and has been actively involved in STB and Dakota First Responders. Dr. Owens will be handing off some of his projects. Dr. Waldner is hoping to bring pediatrics to the forefront
    • Whitney Lutkemeier – DOH HPP
      • Looking forward to partnering and supporting EMSC’s mission
    • Marty Link – DOH Office of EMS
      • Telemedicine in Motion – out of 122 EMS agencies approx. 8 may opt out
      • Over 700 encounters with AvelEcare to assist EMS providers during a 911 call
      • National/Federal attention for the Telemedicine in Motion  program and possible
      • Life Pak Monitor replacement project  – 2 services to be trained and completed by end of November followed by regional planning grants
      • Naloxone project continues. Narcan is in businesses.  Bill 1162 passed DOH/DSS staff will be trained to recognize and treat opioid OD’s walk-ins
      • Stroke and Cardiac Systems of Care – more to come
    • Jamie Zilverberg, DOH State Trauma Manager
      • Trauma conference last month with great attendance, planning for next conference.
      • End of November – application process for next Trauma Medical Director – closes tomorrow 10/20/23
      • STB – Dr. Smoot presented at Sturgis and the State Fair with positive feedback and the kids loved the program at the fair.
      • STB – school project to wrap up next month.
    • Dr. Ellis, Sanford ED
      • Fantastic turnout/reception for the Sanford Rural Trauma Day in Salem, SD. McCook County EMS was amazing!
      • Castle of Care symposium was well attended and speakers were top notch
      • Noel Miller put in a ton of time organizing the symposium J
      • Pediatric Residents will start leading simulation cases for critically ill kids that present to the emergency departments in mid-December
    • Dr. Friedman, Avera
      • – no updates on Avera
      • Excited for the EMSC Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Recognition program
    • Mac Young – Mitchell Fire/ Pediatric Champion
      • Mitchell Fire Rescue has had great experience with AvelEcare and advocates for the  program and believes it will help tremendously for optimizing pediatric care
      • Fire Prevention week
      • Scouts- Boys and Girls interest and partnerships for first aid
      • Training/education/skills focused on pediatrics  I-gels on board
      • Working towards his car seat tech certification
    • Dr. Ryckman, Sanford Trauma
      • Slow and steady… getting ready for winter.  RSV antibody distribution is being determined.
      • Sanford – Adult is now a level 1 Trauma Center,
    •       Pediatric Trauma is level 2 due to a volume issue
      • Trauma research and upcoming presentations: ATV crashes, helmets, child abuse fx < 1year study.
    • Kyle Moser, State Fire Marshall
      • Fire based rescue service – capturing data and adding questions and find out who has an organized rescue service and what their needs are
      • Communities interest and will be putting on babysitting clinics in the future
    • Emily Meier, Center for Disabilities, USD
      • International presentation for healthcare transition and independence
      • Working with school nurses for kids with special health care needs
    • Erin Beck, Avera Trauma
      • Education across the state this summer for rural trauma teams
    • Holly Madison, Sanford Peds
      • RSV vaccine workflow and should be ready to go live October 31st, 2023
